“The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife.” — 1 Corinthians 7:4
There are stewardships that are for women and stewardships that are for men, God means for us to come together in an eternal union of one where we can exercise our unique stewardships in the giving of life and the nurture of those lives along their spiritual journey back home. God made sure in his design that men and women would need to work together to do this work, that they would not be able to do it alone because alone they do not hold all the keys and the powers. If a woman could do everything a man could do, then she would not need a man. If a man could do everything a woman could do, then he could not need a woman.
God makes it clear to us in scripture that we are not to seek his power and blessings outside the bounds he has set — and that the family is ordained of God for the work of salvation — there is no other way. “The man without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the Lord.” — 1 Corinthians 11:11
“Thou shalt love thy wife with all thy heart, and shalt cleave unto her and none else. And he that looketh upon a woman to lust after her shall deny the faith, and shall not have the Spirit; and if he repents not he shall be cast out. Thou shalt not commit adultery; and he that committeth adultery, and repenteth not, shall be cast out. But he that has committed adultery and repents with all his heart, and forsaketh it, and doeth it no more, thou shalt forgive; But if he doeth it again, he shall not be forgiven, but shall be cast out.” — D&C 42:22-26
